The Efficacy of Teicoplanin (Targocid^(®)) in the Treatment of Bone-Joint and Soft Tissue Infections

Abstract
|
|
|
The clinical efficacy of Teicoplanin was evaluated in the treatment of 22 cases of bone-joint and soft tissue infections who were treated at Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Severance Hospital from November 1989 to November 1991.
The patients consisted of 22 patients with 15 cases of osteomyelitis, with 1 case of acute arthritis and with 6 cases of soft tissue (infections.
Teicoplain was given intravenously- or intramuscularly once a day in doses of 200400mg after initial loading doses.
The clinical results of the study lead to the conclusion that Teicoplanin is an effective antibiotic in the treatment of bone-joint and soft tissue infections. Teicoplanin was relatively well tolerated.
